Best Pediatrician New York, NY

About Us

Looking for the best pediatrician in New York, NY? Welcome to Pediatrics 2000, where we are committed to delivering high-quality care for children of all ages. Established in 1992 by Dr. Juan Tapia-Mendoza, the practice was founded with a mission to provide compassionate, comprehensive pediatric care to underserved urban communities. In 1993, Pediatrics 2000 opened its first clinic at 150th Street and Broadway in West Harlem—an area designated as medically underserved—becoming the neighborhood’s first private pediatric office and open-access clinic for Medicaid-eligible families.

Over the years, Pediatrics 2000 has collaborated with organizations such as the National Health Service Corps and Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center to enhance primary care, advance health education, and support community-focused research. The practice has been recognized by major media outlets including The New York Times, NBC, CBS, and Univision, and now operates two locations that serve more than 30,000 patients each year.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pediatrics 2000 expanded telehealth services, supported testing initiatives, distributed food, and volunteered at vaccination centers—demonstrating a strong commitment to community health. Designated as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home by the NCQA—the highest level of recognition—Pediatrics 2000 remains a leader in providing accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate care to the communities it serves.
